I am leaving a big detailed review because there are some very conflicting reviews on Yelp that left us on the fence about eating here. Some reviews said service was bad, pizza was bad, but we took a chance and I'm very glad we did! Its difficult to find a "real"restaurant in Florida because the chain ones and fast food have squeezed them all out. Slyce Pizza Kitchen is definitely worth a return visit. The fried mozzarella with house made marinara was delicious! The marinara was really good, I ate all of it! We had a brick oven half sausage/half sausage pepperoni pizza and the dough, crust cheese and sauce were really tasty and fresh. They make their own fennel Italian sausage, yum! I would have liked the bottom of the pizza to be a little crisper but otherwise it great.Their pizza pans are really cool, like a Z shape, it left a lot more room on the table then a regular round pan. My mom had a beef and cheese sub. The subs are like calzones, its not a regular bread sub. She said it was really good. I ate the salad that came with her meal and the dressing was a balsamic vinaigrette, the lettuce was romaine with fresh tomatoes, I will definitely try a salad next time because it was tasey! We had a large 2 meat pizza, fried mozzarella that could feed four people, the beef sub, 2 sodas with free refills (we each has 2 refills) and my mom had a couple Corona's the bill was like $45 dollars, and we had food to take home because the portions are pretty big. They played great music, at a pleasant decibel level, we were next to the bar, so it could have been super loud. You could hear in it the background but not have to be yelling to have a conversation. I loved the mural above the bar. and the decor was relaxing, I liked it because they were not trying to copy any other place, it was original and different. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We went in around 1:30 so we missed the lunch and dinner crunch. I will definitely be going back. The menu was very diverse, not just pizza, I wanted to try more but they would have had to roll me out of there if I did. This was one of the very few times I've eaten out with my mom where she was not complaining about: The noise The prices The spiciness of the food The service. It was an all around great experience, I hope its just as good the next time! Oh the chocolate after dinner mints going out the door are delicious too!

Have nothing but positives to say about this place. Service was fantastic - very attentive. And, the food was wonderful. We started with the chips and salsa. The chips had a spice on them that was phenomenal - could eat them by themselves without the salsa, which I did. But, the salsa was excellent as well. My husband and I split a Rustic Pepperoni pizza. It was very well done - quality ingredients. My son had the chicken tenders and fries and ate them all, which doesn't happen often. My father in law had the fish sandwich and mother in law had the fish fry. Both really enjoyed them. There was so much more in their menu that I wanted to try! Can't wait to go back soon.

I've been here several times and service has always been great. Pizza's are awesome and the establishment is nicest pizza place in the area.

Finally got around to trying the newest pizza place in town. They've done quite a decor upgrade on the former Freds (and Johnsons) place. We ordered a pizza with one half the wife's style and the other half my style. The order came out exactly as we had ordered and was tasty. But it was NOT hot. Usually, a pizza fresh out of the oven has cheese that would burn your lips on the first bite. But not this one. And, we weren't the only ones to think so. I asked some friends that we'd seen in the restaurant and they said the exact same thing. I don't know if its that steel zig zag holder that they bring the pizza out on but something is not quite right with the food's temperature. Seems like maybe they're heating the pizza from the top down instead of from the crust up or both sides at the same time. But it just wasn't HOT pizza.

Officially my go to pizza and pasta place. Fast, friendly staff, and the food is delicious. Better than pizza hut by far and even though it's a small selection for pasta, better tasting than Olive Garden. It's still a bit pricey, but it's very good. French fries served at a pizza parlor? No way, get out of Dodge, seriously though, these French fries will make you want to give up those fast food fries and come here instead. My favorite fries are the bbq and the Asian sriacha. The salads are great here to, it's not the typical chopped up iceberg lettuce but you can tell the chef puts a lot of care into the food. Pasta, hands down, lobster Mac and cheese, enough said. Now to the good stuff, the pizza!!! Mexican pizza is wonderful, the cilantro elevates the flavor. The Cali pizza with Bacon and avocado, delicious. I have not tried the calzones but I'm sure they are good too. I like their pizza because it's not all dough but it's not super thin either. Give it a try, they have options for everyone.

845p on Fri night...really nice service :) We ordered the House salad to share and a Make your own ...yum! Salad was really great and pizza very enjoyable...hubby said he wouldve liked the crust a more crispy, but I liked it as is ;) This was our second time here (first time was back when they first opened) greatly improved and we'll definitely be back!

I'd like let all readers know our family drove to two different pizza places but they were both closed and we are so glad they were!! I can not say enough about this place! Menu is a foodies delight, strawberry basil margarita was on point, service was five stars. If your are in the area don't miss this place!! The restaurant was very clean, they have a kids menu that's not listed on the actual menu, we went ahead and ordered the kids a 16" cheese pizza. It was perfect for two, only two slices to take home. The pizza crust tasted so fresh, it was so lite and had a little crispy bite to it. The kids even ate the crust with no arguments! This is one of our new favorite spots for sure we will be back soon!

Our first time visiting this place was Sunday around 9pm although it says on yelp it's closed Sunday's we took a drive up that way and seen cars in carpark so we decided to go in it clearly says open 7 days a week on the door so yelp needs to update the opening times.anyways inside it was very relaxing not over noisy like most places we were seated straight away by the very friendly staff it has a good choice of food on the menu not all just pizza I ordered calzone with pepperoni and my wife ordered the Stromboli we both really enjoyed our food very good prices we were stuffed after the meal and all for under $20 very nice place to eat there also do takeout and delivery, looking forward to going back not a bad thing to say about this place very happy with our experience.

Slyce was great! The food was fantastic. We got the Parmesan garlic french fries, some garlic knots, the key lime pie martini, and the 'house made fennel sausage pizza' from their specialty pizza menu. I never considered garlic knots something you could do better than other places, but Slyce made some of the best garlic knots I've had in years. Real garlic, complete with the hot-bite some garlic has. Loved them. Additionally, the pizza and fries were so delicious. I really loved the garlic on the fries and the balsamic ketchup was wonderfully tangy. I highly recommend the key lime pie martini if you love key lime pie. Not crazy sweet key lime pie, authentic tart key lime pie. The martini is sweet and creamy enough to satisfy a sweet tooth drink craving but not sickly sweet at all. With the tart flavor and graham cracker crust rim, it is a home run. The only thing holding back that last star for me was the crust on our pizza. I love how it has that chewy breadiness to it but it was lacking a crisp crunch on the bottom. It was only the second night they were open, I'll definitely be back, even if the crust doesn't change.

Horrible service, music way too loud, and the waitress Bailey likes to talk crap about customers she's waiting on loud enough you can hear her from the kitchen!! Sure the food is as horrible as the service. They will be out of business soon, need a Sweet Tomatoes anyway!!

Sat at the bar. Fantastic margarita made with fresh squeezed limes not high calorie yucky sour mix. Personal wood fired pizza with goat cheese kalamata olives and arugula!! All my favorites!! Great service great food. Will definitely go back

Good food, but poor service. We went in at nine on a Friday night and they were dead. Our waitress seemed to be rushing us from the beginning. She brought us a box and our check when we still had five slices of pizza left. The check was around thirteen dollars. I gave her my card, but when she returned it I noticed that she ran my check for eighteen dollars. She never came back to our table even though our drinks were empty and we were still eating... She was simply socializing with someone at the bar. I had to go up to her to figure out why I was charged for more than the original check. She said that she forgot to charge us for our teas until she was about to run her card.. But she didn't think to tell me that? Not to mention it isn't our fault she forgot part of her job. It was way too slow to forget simple things like that. ( I'm a waitress myself, it isn't that hard when it's slow) She then looks at me and says, "Well, are you going to sign?" We also had to ask the very kind host for refills because our waitress was neglecting to do her job. Good food isn't worth bad service. I doubt we'll return because of this.

Nothing great....I don't think it's gonna be around long....pizza tasted like high end frozen pizza... The antipasto sald was really good though, but not good enough to go back for...

Disgusting food, way over priced and extremely poor customer service. Tried it once and will never go back. Oh don't complain about the food because the server will just bring you the bill and expect you to still pay regardless if you like it or not. This place is not worth more of my time complaining as I will never be back. You want pizza in the Winter Haven area go to Giovanni's.

Been here twice for lunch in the past month. Food is decent. However be advised to drink your bev of choice S L O W L Y!! Server must have walked past my empty glass half a dozen times - even after I placed it at the outer edge of our table. Never asked about it, even up to the point of presenting the check. Her efforts will reflect in my gratuity! :-o

Not impressed at all. Got a cheese pizza for the kids and it tasted old. We kept having to flag the waitress down for things because she was not checking on us. I could have understood if it was busy but it was 5pm and the place was almost empty when we arrived. Will never go back.

We are a family of 5. We arrived at around 6:30 on a Friday evening. The wait time was 45 minutes. We decided to sit it out because the place is new and we really wanted to give them a try. While waiting my husband wanted a beer and I wanted a glass on wine. The sign by the hostess station clearly says "while you wait order a cocktail" so he went to the bar to order us a drink. They were steady but not packed by any means. He stood at the bar for at least 5 mins with no recognition. He tried to get the bartenders attention a few times but she never made eye contact. He gave up. Once we were seated we saw 4-5 tables vacant the entire time we ate...it doesn't make sense why we waited so long when there were clearly tables available. Service was okay but server didn't have a lot of answers to our very simple questions..."Do you have pineapple?" "Can we get the sauce on the side for the kids pasta?" The answers were all the same, I will check. Food was expensive and servings were smaller. Kids meals were $7.50 each with a drink. We will not be returning as there are to many pizza places locally with much better food and better service.

We just returned to Slyce last week and really loved the food again- great service and killer truffle fries! Make sure you try the caprese salad- it's very fresh and light- will be back soon.

Napa Valley signature pizza was great, quality ingredients and not overdone like a lot of wood-fired oven places do. Service was a little slow on a not busy early Saturday evening, inattentive, though that's a very subjective opinion.

Terrible pizza. The taste and texture felt under cooked. Server said we couldn't order certain food because of the time frame. All we wanted was garlic knots (I mean really? How difficult is it to make?!) So he said he can make us mozzarella sticks instead and failed to mention they were a couple bucks more. The server didn't want to return to the table to refill our water so he told us he will just leave the jug with us (We were the only ones there!). Last time I'll ever say here. Surprised this is what replaced Fred's.

Excellent food, excellent service! Thanks Piper! The mussels appetizer is absolutely the best mussels dish we've had outside of the Mediterranean! If you don't order garlic knots to dip in the sauce you're cheating yourself. You can not beat the happy hour drink prices and the Italian specialty pizza was the best! The crust is perfect. We'll be back soon!!!

Visiting Winter Haven and wanted something other than a chain. Dinner at Slyce was a pleasant experience and we would definitely consider it one of WH's better local restaurants. Good pizza, good service and nice ambiance.

  • Laurie B.

Service was good, with pleasant waitstaff. The food was a different story. The garlic knots were so rock hard that I was afraid of losing a tooth and flavorless to boot. The Alfredo was bland and the pizza was runny. It was way overpriced for what we got.

This place is owned by the same guy who runs Fire in downtown winter haven. I love what they have done with the location, it is beautiful inside now, with no hint of the Fred's family kitchen buffet that it used to be. Their wings are amazing...but you must go for the wood fired pizza and flatbreads. The dough is delicious with just the right amount of crispness and flame kisses. The pomegranate margaritas are super yummy, and they have Magners on tap. I also saw someone who ordered the table side guac. While I didn't get it myself, it looked like their party really enjoyed it...and it doesn't get much fresher than that! The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that they have only been open for 3 weeks now, and they are clearly suffering in the service department. They are understaffed when it comes to servers and bartenders, and all of their staff seems a bit overwhelmed with how busy it is. We went at 6:30pm on a Tuesday and the place was packed. We sat at the bar and it was clear the bartender was good, but overwhelmed. He also mentioned there were only 4 servers on that night...definitely not enough for the size of the place on a busy night. And before we said we wanted to sit at the bar, the hostess said "oh boy, they are going to hate us" to the other girl up front, in reference to seating yet another table in the over worked server's area. But I'm sure once they get a better handle on the necessary staff ratio, this place will be amazing.
